Local Exhaust Ventilation Assessments

Local exhaust ventilation or LEV is used to control the levels of harmful contaminants in a workers atmosphere such as dust, fumes or vapour. Any work environment that has dust, fumes and vapours present should have as a control measure – LEV fitted to ensure it can carry away any airborne contaminants before the worker can breathe them in.

Any employer that uses LEV in the workplace has to ensure the equipment is tested and examined every 14 months with the exception of the below processes* to ensure it’s working safely and effectively

EHSC will carry out a thorough examination of all LEV equipment to ensure they are all within an efficient state and in good repair.

Measurement of the performance of the LEV is required using suitable equipment. Our equipment includes airflow pitot manometers, hot wire anemometers and rotation vane anemometers.

Our survey will provide you with readings for face velocity, Capture velocity and duct velocity. Any findings and recommendations will be detailed within the report. We will provide you with information on the recommended capture and duct velocities so you have guidance as to how well all LEV is operating.

Our Consultants have completed BOHS P601 qualification in Thorough Examination and Testing of LEV Systems.
